- App Store & iTunes Gift Cards are solely for the purchase of goods and services on the iTunes Store, Apple Books, Apple Music, and the App Store. Should you receive a request for payment using App Store & iTunes Gift Cards outside of iTunes and the App Store please report it to the Canada Revenue Agency.
When you redeem an App Store Top-Up card, the amount on the card is added to your Apple ID as store credit.
If you want to add more credit, buy another App Store Top-Up card or add funds to your Apple ID.
If you're not signed in to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with the Apple ID that you want to add store credit to, follow the Redeem steps below. Find out what to do if your card isn't activated or you can't redeem your Top-Up card.
You might see Top-Up cards referred to as App Store & iTunes Gift Cards in other countries or regions.
Locate your redemption code
Peel or gently scratch off the label on the back of your App Store Top-Up card to reveal the hidden code. You need this 16-digit code, which starts with an X, to redeem your card.
Other forms of credit might not be 16 digits and might not start with an X.
Redeem your Top-Up card
- On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, open the App Store app.
- Tap Today, then tap or your photo in the upper-right corner.
- Tap 'Redeem Gift Card or Code.' You might be asked to sign in with your Apple ID. Learn what to do if you forgot your Apple ID.
- If you want to use the camera in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to add your Top-Up card, tap Use Camera. Make sure to follow the onscreen instructions to capture the redemption code.
If you're in certain countries or regions, or have an older card, you might have to enter the card manually: Tap 'You can also enter your code manually,' then enter the 16-digit code, which starts with an X, from the back of your card. - Tap Done.
- The first time you try to redeem an App Store Top-Up card to your Apple ID, you’re prompted to enter your National ID. Enter your family name and given name as they appear on your National ID and a valid phone number.
Apple ID store credit is used for each purchase you make in any of the stores, including Apple Music subscriptions, until it's gone. Learn how to view your credit balance.
You can associate your National ID with only one Apple ID at a time.
If your card isn't activated or you can’t redeem your Top-Up card
If you can't redeem your Top-Up card, it might be because:
If the App Store can’t verify your National ID
The first time you try to redeem an App Store Top-Up card to your Apple ID, you're prompted to enter your National ID. You can associate your National ID with only one Apple ID at a time.
If we can't verify your National ID, you'll see an error message. Make sure that you enter your family name, given name, phone number, and National ID correctly. Your name must match how it appears on your National ID and the phone number must be valid to verify your National ID.
If you continue to receive the error, your National ID might be expired.
If you've correctly entered your information and we still can’t verify your National ID, call Property & Credit (P&C) at 95159 to speak with customer support for additional help.
If you've reached the daily or annual Top-Up card redemption limit.
Each National ID can redeem up to 5000 RMB per day and 60,000 RMB per year.
If you see a message that says you've reached your daily or annual Top-Up card redemption limit, you must wait until your limit resets to redeem any additional Top-Up cards. Daily limits reset at midnight local time. Annual limits reset on January 1.

Apple Gift Card
The front of your Apple Gift Card shows a colorful Apple logo on a white background. The pattern might look different from the image that you see here, because Apple Gift Cards are available with a range of designs. On the back of these cards, you'll find text that says that the card can be used for products, accessories, apps, games, music, movies, TV shows, iCloud, and more.
Apple Gift Cards are available only in the United States.

Apple Store Gift Cards
Apple Store Gift Cards are a solid color (gray, white, silver, or gold) on the front. On the back of these cards, you'll find:
- A link to a website where you can check your gift card's balance.
- Text that says that the card can only be used in the Apple Online Store or Retail Store, or that you can't redeem the card in the iTunes Store.
- A phone number that you can call if you need help.
In most countries and regions, you can use an Apple Store Gift Card in an Apple Store or at apple.com. In France, Germany, Singapore, and Switzerland, Apple Store Gift Cards can be used only in an Apple Store, not on apple.com.
App Store & iTunes Gift Cards
Most App Store & iTunes Gift Cards are blue with a pattern on the front. On the back of these cards, you'll find:
- A 16-digit redemption code that begins with X.
- Text that says that the card can be used for apps, games, music, movies, TV shows, books, and iCloud.
If you received an App Store & iTunes Gift Card via email, the email says that you can redeem the card in the App Store and iTunes Store.
